On March 10, 2021, we entered into a "National Park Official Partnership" with the Ministry of the Environment.
National Park Official Partnership Program aims to revitalize the areas located in national parks, while deepening the understanding of people in Japan and overseas on the conservation of the natural environment, by having the Ministry of the Environment and private companies and organizations working in cooperation with each other, introducing the beautiful scenery of Japan's world-class national parks and the appeal of staying in national parks, and expanding the number of national park users from home and abroad.
We will continue to engage in activities that lead to environmental conservation.
We donated maintenance-free eco-toilets, which break down waste using the power of microorganisms in sawdust, including co-sponsored installations, in seven locations, to aid in the protection of Japan's world natural heritage and cultural heritage sites.
In order to ensure regional environmental conservation and enjoyable sightseeing in the scenic spots of each region, we carry out "cleanup activities" with volunteers from among our Group's employees.
“World Heritage Mt. Koya Pilgrimage Route Road Repair Activities"
The Mt. Koya Choishi-michi trail was registered as a World Heritage Site (Cultural Heritage) with the "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range" in July 2004, and the Nyonin-michi was later registered in October 2016. The Kii mountain range is a region that sees a lot of rainfall throughout the year, and it is also frequently hit by disasters such as typhoons, and road damage caused by the increase in walking and sightseeing tourists to Mt. Koyasan has been confirmed. Under these conditions, in order to look after these registered assets and pass them on to the next generation, the Group is carrying out maintenance activities (soil mulching work) with employees of the Group.
・Implemented since 2014
(General customers also participated in 2018)
We run a "PET-bottle cap" collection campaign in which all Group employees can take part in all workplaces. The proceeds from the sales of caps are donated to the non-profit organization "Japan Committee, Vaccines for the World’s Children (JCV)"The collected caps are reused for ballpoint pens and other products, contributing to the reduction of plastic waste and CO2 emissions.
・Implemented since 2009
Every year, June and December are designated as “Environmental Protection Enhancement Months”, and in addition to promoting energy and resource saving, appropriate management of heating and cooling temperatures, and separation of waste throughout the Group, we actively promote "Cool Biz" (light summer clothing), "Warm Biz", and green purchasing (purchasing environmentally friendly goods). In addition, each workplace voluntarily sets an environmental day and encourages employees to leave work on time to reduce CO2 emissions by saving electricity. We also conduct environmental awareness education.
Every year from April to October, in collaboration with our Group companies, we implement the "Cool Biz initiative (wearing no tie, etc.)" and work to reduce the amount of electricity used. In addition, we are working to create a comfortable, climate-friendly working environment.
Hankyu Travel International's monthly travel information magazine "Trapics Club" (2.4 million copies issued nationwide) is printed using environmentally-friendly vegetable-based ink *1, and our Group's original calendar and public relations magazine are also printed with vegetable-based ink on FSC-certified paper *2. We also strive to protect the environment by using recycled paper for all of our business cards and envelopes.
We are actively purchasing green (environmentally-friendly) products, such as the copy paper and stationery products we use in our company. This is a group-wide initiative, with the goal of achieving a green-purchasing ratio of "at least 5% over the previous year."
In order to promote the collection of paper for recycling, we place special importance on paper resources, such as installing special eco-boxes in the office. In addition, we use recycled toner in our printers and fax machines and also reuse the containers.
With the cooperation of bus companies and other interested parties, we take responsibility for the collection and processing of empty containers and waste from the boxed lunches we prepare and sell on the bus tours we organize.
